Brain health talk set for June 28

The Orchard Park Senior Center, 70 Linwood Ave., offers many programs for people older than 55. Contact the center at 662-6452 to register for programs. The Senior Center director is Debbie Santiago.

Weekly events include bridge at 12:30 p.m. Mondays; mind aerobics at 1 p.m. Mondays; bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; popcorn and a movie at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; knitting at 1 p.m. Thursdays; and pinochle at 1 p.m. Fridays.

Evening bingo bash — At 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, come to the center for dinner before bingo. Pizza and salad will be $3. To attend the dinner, you must sign up and pay in the office by Monday, June 25. If you do not choose to purchase a dinner, bingo will begin at 4:30 p.m. All boards are $1. All are welcome.

Brain health — At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28, learn how the brain works and receive background information on Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease from Frank Pietrantoni of Wegmans Pharmacy. In addition, learn about common medications and nonmedicinal treatments for these conditions.

Watercolor painting will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays through July 6. The cost of the six-week session is $25.

Men’s fitness will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through July 26. The cost for the 10-week session is $40.

Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Boards for the hourlong program are $1.

Mahjong will be held at 1 p.m. Fridays.

The meal calendar is as follows: June 25, beef macaroni; June 26, grilled chicken Caesar salad; June 27, macaroni and cheese; June 28, breaded boneless pork chop.
